The Rotary club of Coral Springs-Parkland receives its 4th Global Grant - Peace Building through Trauma Care
On March 4, the Rotary Club of Coral Springs-Parkland, with support from the Southwest Center for the Study of Hospital and Health Care Systems 501c, hosted Dr. Salman Zarka, the remarkable Druze physician and humanitarian who heads Ziv the major regional hospital in northern Israel on the Syrian and Lebanese border. Dr. Zarka holds degrees in public health, political science and a medical degree from the prestigious Technion. Dr. Zarka comes from the Druze community and has held several key positions in the IDF Medical Corps and passed up selection to be the Surgeon General of Israel in order to better serve the population of Northern Israel. The event marked several weeks of workby the Coral Springs-Parkland Rotary club together with district 6990 , the Haifa host club in Israel , district 2490 and the Southwest Center in planning and implementing a project to give the Hospital a badly needed ultrasound system to help save lives In the region. Special thanks are also given for the help rendered by Manohar Mahajan, Barbara Gobbi, Alan Cohn and Neal Pouquette who helped make this grant possible.
